So I have had an "updates" blog drafted forever. I keep adding to it but never have time to finish! This blog deserves a special post.

I am very blessed to have an amazing friend, Char. We actually met through my ex, who is her nephew by marriage. Lucky for me, we hit it off right away and she was able to see me through the break up. Since then, she and her amazing fiance' Cody have remained a constant presence in my life. Thankfully they fell in love with Brian and they will be moving down the street in just a few short weeks! They are always there for us. We we got engaged Char & Cody showed up with champagne and congratulations before the word was even out. They dropped everything they were doing to help us move twice in a year. They were a constant vigil at Kaleb's bedside when he was in the hospital. We cannot express how much they mean to us :)

Now that you know the back story...

Char, as always, was reading this blog and decided to google Kaleb's condition. She found a couple of amazing sites including Superhands. Brian and I sat for hours the first night reading about the other children who were just like our little boy. There is even a section for adults living like Kaleb. I could've cried with joy at this site!

I was able to email the creator of the site. He added Kaleb and created him a page. It even has a link back to this blog!

Thank you Aunt Char for helping Kaleb be a part of this amazing site!

I keep catching little moments where my already strikingly similar boys sleep the same, make the same faces and prove the point that my little guy is "Just like Dad." I love it.

I have some serious updating to do. I promise, it's coming soon.

Kaleb got his pictures taken this week. We we're pretty worried because he was in a bad mood. Our little happy pants came through and we got some amazing pictures! These are just a sample:

We got about a million pictures. Link to my myspace to see the rest! :)

25 Random Things :)

Wednesday, February 11, 2009

I saw this going around on Facebook and The Nest. I'll post it in both places. I have so much to update... hopefully I'll get around to it tonight!

1. I have one amazing son, Kaleb, he is my world.

2.I have One Sister [Olivia] & I Would Die For Her...

3. I thought I knew love. I was wrong. I knew nothing about love until I met my fiancé, Brian.

4. My son was born without his left hand. We had 5 ultrasounds during my pregnancy… 2 of them we 3D. We didn’t know until he was pulled out of me on the operating table.

5. We believe that God has BIG plans for our son. We wouldn’t change anything about him, no matter what extra obstacles he will have to overcome. He’s a fighter.

6. My mom is amazing.

7. I value my relationship with God above anything else. He has given me EVERYTHING.

8. I don’t eat salad dressing, I dip my pretzels in my pop and I hate lunch meat.

9. My fiancĂ©’ was a preacher’s son. He teaches me more about my faith everyday.

10. I was at least 2 more kids. If we don’t get a girl, we’ll adopt.

11. I hate, hate, hate paying the Duke & water bill. It pains me every time.

12. I was a cheerleader from 8th grade to senior year. My friends now cannot believe it.

13. I am obsessed with being organized. It drives the people in my house nuts.

14. Kaleb is the first boy in my family since 1961.

15. I have been planning my wedding forever. We’ll get it done one day =) We might just go do it and not tell anyone but still plan our big wedding.

16. I love writing. My blog is erickaanni.blogspot.com. It is my release.

17. I get really inspired by certain songs

18. My sister and I get into “cleaning moods” and go nuts. Dusting, scrubbing, reorganizing. It happens pretty regularly.

19. We have a ghost in our house. No kidding.

20. I am really shy

21. I cry on television commercials

22. I hate shopping for clothes. I literally only have 1 pair of jeans.

23. It has taken me every bit of 4 months to get my son to sleep in his own room. I still have relapses and don’t sleep as well when he’s across the hall.

24. I love pickles & cucumbers

25. This was way harder than I thought!

Are You Kidding Me!?

Monday, February 2, 2009

I had one of those 'are you kidding me' kind of days. Kaleb went for his 4 month check up this morning.

Weight: 17 pounds 9 ounces (88th)

Height: 25 3/4 (81st)

Head: 15 (99th)

Are you kidding me!? My child has a head in the 99th percentile? Since Olivia is contanlty made fun of for her head I thought she'd appreciate her nephew's stats. He got the green light to up his solids to twice a day and got 4 shots and an oral vaccine. Kaleb pulled on the doctors stethoscope, bit down on the tongue depresser and growled at the doctor when he was listening to his chest. He also thought it was hilarious to cover his ears before the doctor could look in them. The doctor was amazed by his head control (hello... his head is in the 99th percentile... no wonder his has good head contol. He has a huge melon!) He also has gigantic muscles in his legs. The doctor showed me where he already has the tear drop shape! I am so proud of our little boy.

I ran out this morning to start the car for my boys and fell on the top step and slid all the way down. There was so much ice I actually slid half way under my car. I laid there for a minute, started crying, started the car and slowly made my way inside. Brian tried to take me to the hospital (bless his overprotective heart) but I was a trooper and just threw my wet pants into the dryer... I also fell twice the last Thursday. Are you kidding me? I suck at walking.

And finally tonight at dinner we got on the subject of state capitals after watching Jeopardy. Here is how the conversation went:

"What is the capital of New Hampshire?" - Ericka

"I don't know... Connecticut?" -Olivia

(after laughing so hard I almost peed) "Oh my gosh. Seriously, you are joking? Brian what do you think?"- Ericka

"I don't know. I cannot even think of what state that is in?"- Brian

Are you kidding me? Am I the only one in this house who took 4th grade social studies? It's just been one of those days!
